Unfortunately this location is permanently closed. Takumi had the best miso soup and teriyaki ribeye, I ordered pick up almost weekly. Service was always fast and friendly, I would call in my order and walk over for pick up. The salad dressing was so delicious, reminded me of my grandmothers home made salad dressing. I'm going to miss this place and their cool culinary vibe.

My coworker and I came for lunch and ordered the California Roll with cream cheese and the Chicken Shio Ramen. I did not care for my ramen but the roll was delicious and refreshing. I cannot wait to return when I am not pregnant to enjoy their other rolls.

My coworkers and I were in Sac for a weekend work trip and got lunch here. This place definitely didn't disappoint. We ordered sashimi, truffle ramen, oxtail ramen, and steak appetizer to share. The sashimi was very fresh and we appreciated how they gave us thick cuts of the fish. The ramens were flavorful and they didn't skimp out on the meat. The only slight let down was the steak since it was smaller than expected and the slices were thin, but the toasted garlic bits on top added a ton of flavor. Very chill and classy restaurant in downtown Sac area!

Came in for lunch and was seated quickly as a party of 1. I ordered the bento box with teriyaki chicken and gyoza. Comes with rice and salad. I enjoyed the food. I wish the menu had more sushi rolls that are not raw. The only non-raw roll they had was the California roll. Overall I'd return for the bento boxes if I'm ever in the neighborhood. I asked if my reusable water bottle could be filled with water and the waitress gladly did so.

Fresh and properly cut sashimi dished here! Happy with the fish (great!) but also tried the oxtail ramen (good), hamachi Kama (ok), uni pasta (ok) and bone marrow (good). Very prompt and attentive service!

We came over and there were a few tables open but we were places in a smaller two person table. Disappointed groan. I noticed another couple on a 4 person table. When I'm placed in a smaller table there literally isn't room to order a lot. The restaurant wafted with a smoky smell. Not unpleasant. Ok another couple just walked in and got seated at a 4 person table. Hmmm, this makes me question whether bias or profiling occurred. Husband really liked the steak ramen. It had eggs, seaweed, steak and noodles with a strong miso broth. The garlic beef yakitori was good.

I needed a quick lunch before catching the Amtrak and I stumbled upon this spot just around the corner from Temple Coffee in downtown. Service is excellent. I didn't catch her name, but the waitress was super nice! I got the black garlic tonkotsu and salmon nigiri. I would order both again.

Post covid, and I haven't been here in a very long time . The work crew decides to have the lunch special here as a team. For a long time this restaurant did not take dine-in, so I was happy to suggest one of my favorite sushi places of 2020 (it's 2022). No dissapointment here! One of my co-workers said it was the best luncheons we had in a long time . I shared 3 sushi rolls with my colleague, and my other two friends had the veggie ramen. The sushi was amazing! We had the Takumi roll, Izakaya, and Kaizen. The Takumi roll was sooo delicious the flavors went well with pickled wasabi and ginger. The Kaiden was good but there is thinly sliced lemon and it was different, delicious, but not my cup of tea. The ramen was such a large portion given it was lunch menu! As for ambiance, the very busy staff had their work cut out for them, but managed to get us in and out without compromising their great service. All in all, I got to enjoy good food and made a believer of 3 other friends. A must visit in downtown Sacramento when it comes to sushi!

I was in search of clam miso soup (asari miso soup), and this was the only Japanese restaurant I could find that had it regularly on its menu. Takumi Izakaya Bar has been on my Sacramento restaurant list for awhile. The clam miso soup was a lovely, light broth combining clam juices and miso. 3 plump, clean clams. I even ordered it on a hot Sacramento day. I would come back for the clam miso soup, and I would like to order the Miso Sake Clams izakaya someday. The Tako Nomiyaki is an octopus and vegetable pancake. I could taste the cabbage and red onion. I could easily see the bonito flakes and shredded nori. However, I had a really, really hard time detecting and tasting octopus. The big pancake is fun to eat, and the sauces make it tasty. Even straight out of the fridge as leftovers, it is yummy. The Izakaya roll was beautiful in structure and appearance. However, I just prefer sashimi and nigiri over sushi rolls these days because the sauces can mask the other ingredients. I always try one sushi roll when eating at a new Japanese restaurant. The Truffle Meji Fries taste best when hot, but they cool quickly. I tried to look for the mushrooms and was able to identify some, but for the most part, all I could taste was the batter. I'd skip this appetizer, but I did have some fun eating it with the clam miso soup....I imagined it as the Japanese version of New England clam chowder and fried clams! To end on a high note, I ordered Hamachi Toro nigiri (Yellow Tail Belly). So very delicious that it left me wanting a lot more. My friend described it as buttery. The hamachi was scored, so it looked so appetizing. I saw a 12 piece sashimi come out. Attractive. I would order that in the future. I just adore Takumi's menu in general: izakaya (Japanese tapas or small plates), ramen, and sushi. All my favorites! The TOGO Specials include family dinner kits, like 6 bowls of ramen for $70 or 6 sushi rolls for $85. The Sushi Sets menu looks reasonably priced for chirashi, nigiri, or sashimi assortments. The restaurant is sleek and modern in design. I would love it if a date took me here. The restaurant is located within walking distance of the Sacramento State Capitol, so you could have a romantic stroll before or after dinner. Lunch ends at 2 pm. Dinner ends at 8 pm. The kitchen stops taking orders about 20 minutes before each of those closing times, so make sure to plan ahead. I had just come from a downtown Sacramento Yelp Elite event (Summer Soiree event at the California Museum), so I was wearing a Yelp wristband, carrying a red Yelp bag, and taking a Yelp check-in photo. Could I be any more obvious?! The handsome and friendly restaurant owner Danny informed me that he would soon be adding a $5 Yelp check-in discount. He then surprised me, kindly taking $5 off my bill. Thank you so very, very much! I asked Danny what the restaurant name Takumi means: Craftmanship. Artisanship. Takumi truly lives up to its name.
